Southampton Drum incident

As well as our friend Iain Williamson not helping the cause in the Southampton game Drummer Hoggy was stopped from keeping the tangerine army beating when his drum was taken away, for………..making too much noise. AVFTT have published a letter in reply to a complaint sent in about the drum being removed, which puts the blame on Blackpool Fans, complaining it was too loud!

Following a request from a Blackpool supporter three days prior to the fixture, permission was given for this supporter to bring a drum to into the away end. The supporter was informed that this was an unusual request not normally permitted and therefore would have to comply with any specific instructions given on the day by the ground management.Early in the first half it became very clear that the effect of the drums, (two were actually brought into the ground) was more than could have reasonably been anticipated. Also, many complaints from Blackpool supporters were passed to the stewards about the level of noise and the nuisance that this was causing.

Communication between the Control Room and the stewards via the radio system was greatly compromised due to the level of noise from the drums. The radio system is one of the main safety features required to operate safely and efficiently as stated in the General Safety Certificate, so this situation became a major safety concern.

It was for these reasons that the stewards were instructed to inform the owners of the instruments, that the drums would have to be confiscated due to safety reasons and also in response to the complaints received from their own supporters. The stewards emphasised that these would be returned to them at the end of the game, with no other action required.Unfortunately other Blackpool supporters in the vicinity became very aggressive and resisted violently when the stewards attempted to confiscate the drums.

In the incident that followed, one steward was seriously assaulted and one arrest was made due to this assault.

The rest of the game passed without further incidents and the drums were returned to the supporters with an apology from the stewards at the end of the game.

The Club Operational Safety Team would like to apologise for any distress, disturbance and inconvenience caused to anyone affected by this incident and will review all safety procedures associated with this incident.

I do hope this answers the queries you have raised

Kind regards

Blackpool 1 – 3 Norwich

This is getting a bit worrying now, defeat at home to bottom of league Norwich wasn’t good viewing at all, another 100 mile plus round trip for the match to be bitterly disappointed.

The game and maybe the result could have been so different when midway through the first half Dion Dublin made an awful challenge on Paul Rachubka as he shepparded the ball out of play. Right in the corner of the North and West Stand Dublin only received a booking for the tackle, he must have know that we had no keeper on the bench as the tackle was aimed to injure the stopper. So Mr M Haywood bottled it.

Norwich weren’t up to much but they have good strikers which seems like a requirement in the Championship.  For Norwich they have  of Dublin, Cureton and Huckerby, not bad. At least out new boy Bartosz Slusarski grabbed his first goal in English football, I think a Gary Taylor-Fletcher shot hit him. Roll on QPR…

Jimmy Armfield to receive World Cup medal

Sir Jimmy Armfield is set to receive World Cup medal after it was announced that squad members of World Cups from 1930 to 1974 are to be given retrospective medals. It means that the 11 used players from the final in 66 are to receive the medal.

* John Connolly (Manchester United)
* Gerry Byrne (Liverpool)
* Jimmy Armfield (Blackpool FC)
* George Eastham (Arsenal)
* Ron Springett (Sheffield Wednesday)
* Terry Paine (Southampton)
* Ian Callaghan (Liverpool)
* Ron Flowers (Wolves)
* Norman Hunter (Leeds)
* Peter Bonetti (Chelsea)
* Jimmy Greaves (Tottenham)

“I know Alf Ramsey always felt we should all receive medals and Bobby Moore felt the same way. In 1966, if you didn’t play, you didn’t get a medal, although we all received the same £1,000 bonus!”commented Sir Jimmy.

All thats required now is that Blackpool FC honor him with the South Stand build in his name.

Great Blackpool Goals

You may have seen this video kicking about on the web recently of a cracking goal in a 5-a-side match, kick from keeper and the fella sissor / overhead / Eric Cantona kicks the ball in from a tight angle. Admittedly there was a few defensive frailties that Alan Hanson would have a heart attack and the keeper had a lot to be desired for.

So what are the best Blackpool FC videos out there on the Internet. In reverse order

5. Brett Ormerod 89 V PNE

4. Ian Morris V Scunthorpe

3. Phil Clarkson back heal v Northampton

2. Richie Wellens from the halfway line V Port Vale

1. Micky Walsh Goal of the Season 1975 V Sunderland

If you think there is a goal missing from there post the URL to the video in the comments box below.

Iain Williamson what a plonker

Oh Iain Williamson another in a long line of plonkers who don the black outfit and decide to piss me off. Defeat this time against Southampton, once again a match where we should have got a point. The defeat is a little harder to swallow due the inept referee Iain Williamson who disallowed a goal. I wasn’t at the match today but listened to the commentary on BBC Radio Lancashire and will eagerly await the highlights from the match.

From the commentary Blackpool were on the attack searching for an equaliser after Paul Rachubka had saved a penalty, the decision from Iain Williamson was questionable. The major talking point was when Andy Morrell (I think) placed the ball in the back of the net, but Iain Williamson decided to pull the play back for a foul on Danny Coid by Nathan Dyer. So Iain Williamson decided not to play advantage and if anything played a disadvantage to Blackpool giving a free kick!

According to soccer base it only the second game that Iain Williamson has officiated this season why? Whats the first image on Google image search…..

I don’t think it’s the first time that Iain Williamson has messed up and it won’t be the last, another in the long list of crap referees.

Edit : Iain Williamson after the match admitted he was wrong, well done for owning up but your still a plonker.

Edit : Have your team suffered due to the referring of Iain Williamson? If so add your comment below.

Steve McLaren must go and he has

As mentioned last night Steve McLaren had to go and sure enough after a meeting at the F.A. this morning Macca was axed. It’s pretty sad that the man didn’t do the honorable thing and resign, but when you have that massive payout it might sway the your decision.

Thoughts now turn to the new manager, I would like to see Mourinho but this afternoon he ruled himself out but he’s still in the list from the bookies. Fabio Capello has said that he would be interested, he is out of a job at the moment after leaving Real Madrid. The early favorite is Martin O’Neil who is currently in charge at Aston Villa , the top ten reads.

  1. O’Neill, M    7/2
  2. Capello, Fabio    5/1
  3. Mourinho, J    6/1
  4. Shearer, A    14/1
  5. Scolari, LF    16/1
  6. Redknapp, H    20/1
  7. Lippi, M    20/1
  8. Hiddink, Guus    25/1
  9. Pearce, S    25/1
  10. Klinsmann, J    33/1

It’s also deadline day domestically so far the only activity at Bloomfield Road is Michael D’Agostino moving to Cheltenham on loan till January the 1st, the deal does have a 24 hour call back. But the night is young so there might be more activity.

Steve McLaren must go

I’ve just witnessed the worst performance by an England Team in my lifetime. The players didn’t turn up (bar Peter Crouch) and most importantly Steve McLaren didn’t know what he was doing. Four fucking Five one, what the hell is that formation, our players don’t know how to play in a formation 4-4-2, simple formation. Don’t put a new keeper in goal for his international debut. Don’t play a back four thats never played together before. Don’t play Wanye ‘wankey’ Bridge at left back, yes the alternative isn’t much better in the form of Phil Nevile (saw him at the Christmas Market on Sunday).

He has to go now, there is no way he can stay on. McLaren won’t resign as then he won’t get his big pay out for the F.A. he’ll wait to get the sack or the classic mutual consent then site back on his arse for two years getting paid or get a big payout.

steve mclaren must go

Thats right right Steve you have no friends.

So annoyed right now.
