West Brom could have really helped us tonight beating Southampton, this would have all but secured our place in the league with a superior goal difference over the Saints and three points ahead one game to go. But the Saints picked up a point tonight which was all WBA needed to gain promotion. So it now goes down to the last day of the season,
The table looks like this

With the final fixtures
Blackpool v Watford,
Charlton v Coventry,
Sheff Wed v Norwich,
Southampton v Sheff Utd,
Stoke v Leicester,
So the deal is,
So we need 4 games to go against us and lose at home to Watford. Stranger things have happened….

After the defeat to WBA it was getting a little tight down the bottom of the table but a great 2-1 over Sheffield Wednesday seems to have done the trick. Results also went our way at the weekend and now the table looks a little more pleasing with us moving up to 16.
Were not 100% safe with two games to go but with 5 teams below us and the drop zone it does look promising, it would be nice to be mathematically safe by the last game of the season against Watford.
Also the win puts use 2 points behind Preston with a better goal difference by one. Preston have to play Ipswich at home and Bristol City away, so it’s all to play, but what ever happens we are still the pride of Lancashire.

With the blog hitting 100 posts recently I thought the site could do with a little revamp and a new kit, well a new design. The photo at the top has been kept, the width expanding so there is another side bar on the right and now at the bottom of the page has the latest post, links and the latest comments are displayed. For those that are new to the blog this is what it looked like;
if you have any views on the new look of the site please leave your comments!

Cardiff today and we went down 3-1, it was 3-0 when Andy Morrell grabbed our only goal. It now means next Saturday’s match against Sheffield Wednesday is essential. It was looking really bad at half time with Barnsley, Coventry and Southampton all drawing. The live tabled painted the picture at half time.

At full time scores had changed Charlton equalised against Southampton, Stoke went onto beat Coventry and Leicester drew with Colchester, although the bottom club were winning at the Walkers Stadium.

It’s looking bad, but it all depends on the next match against Sheffield Wednesday but we don’t want to be in the situation of having to win on the final day of the season against Watford!

After gaining promotion last year the second after the final whistle went at Wembley everyones thoughts turned the to the Lancashire derbies against Preston and Burnley. 6 games in total with each playing home and away.
The results
Burnley 2-2 Blackpool - 15-09-2007
Preston 0-1 Blackpool - 08-12-2007
Burnley 2-3 Preston - 15-12-2007
Blackpool 3-0 Burnley - 01-01-2008
Blackpool 0-0 Preston - 15-03-2008
Preston 2-1 Burnley - 22-03-2008
The table
| P | W | D | L | F | A | GD | P | ||
| 1 | Blackpool | 4 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 6 | 2 | +4 | 8 |
| 2 | Preston | 4 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 5 | 4 | +1 | 7 |
| 3 | Burnley | 4 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 5 | 10 | -5 | 1 |
Very clear to see that Blackpool FC are the pride of Lancashire, Burnley the shit of Lancashire and Preston the scum of Lancashire . Bring on Bolton and to conclude a video summing up the Lancashire derbies this season.
This was the 100th post on BFCblog.co.uk!

The Mirror have run with a report that Preston are going to bid £250,000 in the summer for our Latvian Kaspars Gorkss. It’s said that Gorkss has a price claus and that a bid of quarter of a million would open talks with the defender. Other interested parties include Crystal Palace.

All I’m today is today’s news is tomorrow’s fish and chips paper.

I’ve come across a brilliant website today that lists with pictures all the Blackpool FC kits down the years. The site includes kits of pretty much all 92 league teams and more. For Blackpool the kits range from 1887 all the way to this season kit from Carlotti.

From the eighties
What is truly amazing is that the kits have been re-created in images with the correct trim, badge at the time and sponsors from the late 70’s to now. I’ve been through the list and picked the worst kit and the best kit.
The worst won is the 1914 - 1915 kit which is black goal and red hooped.

The best in my opinion is the 1961-1962 kit, not sure why but it just looks good to me.

To have a look yourself get over to Historical Football Kits.

Last night we committed suicide against West Brom, leading 1-0 with 10 minutes to go we let in three goal in 6 minutes to lose the game 3-1. Big Ben Burgess grabbed our goal in the first half, he was pretty crap in the game but scored a header from a free kick.
Phillips came off the bench to score two goals, he seems to have the midas touch, and Ishmael Miller grabbed the third. It all means were still on 50 points with the pack below us closing, at the time of writing this Barnsley are 2-0 up over Watford! It’s going to be a nervous end to the season!

The East Stand at Bloomfield Road has been given permission to stay and be extended by 972 seats, but the council are not happy with the lack of progress in the development in the ground considering the re-development of the central corridor in Blackpool.
It means that although the stand has been given permission to stay but they have advised that the license will only permit the stand to stay for three years, till 2011.

Councilor Jim Houldsworth said: “I’m very disappointed that this has come to committee again and that the club, having had five years to get this stand built, has not yet done so. I feel if it’s granted we should look on it as the final three years.
“I know we cannot pre-empt what might be decided in future years but I feel we ought to make our feelings known that this has gone on long enough and we are looking for improvement in the development of the site and in the aesthetics of the stadium.”
Once again it s disgrace and Oyston has got his way, meaning that there will be no development on the East until 2011. More away fans will be able attend matches next year, around 2700, but no extra room for home fans as splitting the East for home and away fans doesn’t seem like an option due to no exits / food stalls for two sets of supporters.
There is a solution to all of this, build a South Stand.

No…. thats the view from the latest poll, as we know it’s been major problem / pain in the arse having a half stadium, the game against West Brom tomorrow night has sold out once again, we on for almost 70% + games sold out for the home fans this season, so what does Karl Oyston do, get planning permission for extra seats in the away end!

So not many votes but pretty unanimous that no work is going to be started in 2008 on the south stand. So it looks like more fans on the fence at Bloomers.

Next poll
Finishing above PNE?
