Get in, first win of the season beating the saints 1-0. Big Ben’s second of the season from the spot was enough to secure all three points in what was an awesome match.
Steve Kabba had three goals disallowed for offside, saints keeper Kelvin Davis pulled off two great saves to deny Fox and Burgess goals and in extra time Southampton hit the bar!
A great start to the weeked, we need a chant for Big Ben.

Half time at St Mary’s and Pool are one nil up thanks to a pen from Ben Burgess on the stroke of half time. Gary Taylor-Fletcher earned the spot kick being brought down just inside the box.
Saints have had two chances cleared off the line by Evatt and Edwards. It’s been an entertaining half and it looks like there’s more goals to come!

Well better late than never the results of a poll that ran over the summer asking if Wes Hoolahan and Kaspars Gorkss would be leaving Blackpool FC. Well they did and you predicted it with 77% of votes saying the pair would leave. An optimistic 12% thought the pair would stay at the club, I’m guessing those voters didn’t know about the release clauses in the players contracts.

Our new poll asks for the pick of the new lads, 12 to choose from.
Marlon Broomes
Adam Hammill
David Vaughan
Alex Baptiste
Jermaine Wright
Steve Kabba
Mo Camara
Matthew Gilks
Zesh Rehman
Daniel Nardiello
Rob Edwards
Sone Aluko
Just vote for your pick! on the left under the recent news stories.

Over the past week I noticed a rise in the traffic to the site and its down to our old friend the referee Iain Williamson.

The traffic shot through the roof and it was all to the page about Iain Williamson. So why and where did it come from, well it was the Crystal Palace V Burnley match which Williamson officiated, he managed to sent off two Palace players and booked seven players in total.
A few Palace fans were not happy about the performance of the ref click here.
The fact that the ref was escorted from the ground by stewards and guards suggests it wasn’t his best game ever. Some of his decisions were past ridiculous and I had never heard before that you can get booked for tackling someone cleanly. My word: Disgraceful
It seems the Palace fans really hate him including a hate club.

Stephen Crainey is up for the Championship Northwest Football Awards 2008. He’s up against Shaun St Ledger of PNE and Wade Eilliot of Burnley. So get over to http://northwestfootballawards.co.uk/index.php/your-vote/ and start voting.
Unfortunately when you vote it doesn’t give you a running total so vote as much as you can for Stephen.

Following on from the Ben Burgess Blog it seems that Zesh Rehman also has a blog. Rehman who played on Saturday against Norwich has his own blog at zeshrehman.blogspot.com and his own dedicated website. He’s updated it once saying that he’ll be playing for Pool till January.
From the cameo appearance against Macclefield Town in the cup Zesh looked rather good, and that was playing upfront!

So we’re off the mark win a point against Norwich. I didn’t go to the match but reading reports and catching 10 mins of commentary it sounds like we were lucky to take home a point.
Wes didn’t score but he did provide the corner for the equalizer. Adam Hammill continues to impress and won the penaltly which Big Ben Burgess converted.
So after a dissapointing two games it looks good, still waiting for that new number 9 to arrive!

Not a good night at all, in the second half we had less chances and Keith Southern picked up a straight red for violent conduct. Southern appeared to headbutt Terry Dunfield who must of headbutted him back and he was sent off too. So it’s a three match ban for him, from the free kick the second goal came from Gritton.

Half time at the Moss Rose and it’s one nil to Macc. Pool have controlled the play and have plenty of chances to score. Ben Burgess had the ball in the back of the net turning in a Hammill freekick but the linesman had his flag up for offside.
Macc took the lead halfway throught the half a shot squirmed through Gilks into the goal. With a pretty strong team out if the score stays the same it will be a shock to go out!
Full Time report. To come in 45.
