The Clampetts Beat Chelsea

Blooming heck Burnley managed to beat Chelsea tonight in the Carling Cup beating the current league leaders 5-4 on penalties. Chelsea took the lead when Drogba slotted home infront of the Burnley fans. It then looked like a coin was thrown at Drogba by a clampet, Drogba picked it up and threw it back at the fans. For this picture you can see that the inbreds didn’t seem too happy.

But Akinbiyi equalize and took the game to extra time and penaties. It went to sudden death after both teams missed one pen each and the Beast Jensen pulled off a cracking save to win the match.

So as much as it hurts to say…. well done to the Clampetts!

Pretty much an awful game yesturday with Ispwich just about deserving the points. We had a few good chances the pick falling to Gary Taylor-Fletcher who headed onto the bar in the second half.

Anyway the concentration now goes onto the Blackpool V preston match next week. Preston grabbed a draw at Norwich, Neil Mellor’s goal on 81 mins evened the game up at 2-2. I’m hoping it should be a good game but last year’s 0-0 draw at home was pretty boring to be honest.

Both teams have 21 points, with Preston one place ahead of us in the league thanks to a one goal better goal difference. So the teams seem to be pretty even, hopefully not another draw then?

After the amazing result last week over Watford the Tractor boys come to town, Ispwich are current 8th in the league on 21 points, the same as us, but have a better goal differance of plus 7.

It’s a transformed team from last season as they have managed to win a few away games this year winning at Burnley and Plymouth. They’ve even got Ivan Campo playng for them.

Anway it should be three points in the bag, Gow, Burgess and Taylor-Fletcher are on top form at the moment, a win and results going our way could see us move one place below the play-offs.

Well, what a game that was and what a game to pick for an away day. I don’t get to many away games in London but I managed to arrange a meeting on Friday in London and then stayed the night. Watford is a bit of dump (yes I know Blackpool is too), the ground is strange too as you enter the away stand and your at the top of the stand, it’s build on a hill.

The game was great, both sides defended poorly which lead to the seven goals. I’m sure the back four were not happy with conceding three but it’s a good job we have a selection of players that can grab a goal a game.

Ben’s cracking lob / shot was the pick of the goals but when Gow slotted in the winner the roof came off the away stand. It was a great day to be a Pool fan!

The rest of the month looks good too, Ipswich at home, the big one agaist the nobbers, Wolves a great away trip, Sheffeild Wednesday away and we finish up on the south coast at Plymouth!

EDIT : Poor old Aidy Boothroyd was sacked today!
