League One Play Off Final – Scunny Please

It’s the League One Playoff Final today and it’s an early kick off with Millwall playing Scunthorpe for a place in the Championship next year. I’m hoping that Scunny manage to win today just because I think Millwall would do well in the Championship.

From the other end two more teams will join WBA dropping from the top flight. I’m hoping it’s going to be Sunderland and Newcastle as they would be two fantastic home and away games. Looking at the fixtures it looks like it will be Boro and Newcastle, just as I can’t see Newcastle picking up three points against Villa.

It’s amazing that around 8 years ago we were playing Leyton Orient in the League Two playoff final for a place in league one, and by this evening we’ll be set to play Newcastle United in a league fixture!

Ian Holloway new Blackpool Manager

Sorry for the lack of updates on the blog recently but with the good news this week a new post was needed. Following the departure of Tony Parkes the reigns have been taken up by the one and only Ian Holloway.

He comes with a bit of a reputation as a joker and plays up to the press but listening to his interview it’s clear that he’s raring to get started.

His teams in the past have always been attacking and built around talented hardworking players. The current crop of players are hardworking but he’s going to have find some more talent. DJ Campbell and Charlie Adams should still be top of our list for summer buys, that still should be the case with Tommo staying on as number 2.

Even though the season was only over two weeks ago I now can’t wait for next season to start.

Ian Holloways Tangerine Army!

Goodbye Tony Parkes

So Tony Parkes spell as Blackpool manager has come to an end with him being unable to agree terms with Karl Oyston. It’s a shame that Oyston’s penny pinching has meant he’s had to left the club. He did really well to pick up half a team, rebuild mid season and secure safety with a game to go.

It now leaves us with no manager but with interviews this week it looks like we’ll be getting a new manager sooner rather than later. Names in the hat so far are nothing special Gary Brabin, Alan Knill, Ian Holloway to name a few… it’s going to be an interesting couple of days.

The season ended today with great 1-0 over Swansea thanks to a goal from our top scorer DJ Campbell. I’m guessing the game wasn’t played at full pace but that win means we end the season in 16th place ten points clear of the relegation zone or 18 points off the playoffs depending on which way you look at it.

It’s a great improvement on last years 19th place finish and most importantly we are now slowly making progress to become a Championship side something that I never thought would happen when I started to support the Pool.

The summer is going to be interesting to see if Tony Parks gets the job, I hope he does based on the results in the last 10-15 games. Next years success won’t be decided in the transfer status of Charlie Adams and DJ Campbell but the signing of the duo would be a massive boost.

I’m hoping that Preston and Burnley go out in the play-offs so we have another round on Lancashire derbies, it would be good to see Leeds come up next season just so we can beat them and I’d love Newcastle with Sunderland to join WBA in the Championship for three massive games. Little Blackpool at St. James playing Newcastle United, I’d love it!

Last day of the season and I’m taking it easy back in Manchester with a beer listening in to the BBC with their multi commentary feature with live feeds from the big games. It’s pretty hard to to keep track on it all!

It’s good to see Danny Coid starting today, I’m guessing it’s going to be his last match in Tangerine?
