Pool V Coventry

I’m pretty blind, if I don’t have glasses on I can pretty much just make out players and the ball but it’s not the best viewing experience.

On Thursday I managed to drop my glasses out of my flat window, third floor. I managed to find the glasses but minus one lense.

I’m at specsavers now don’t think I’ll be able to get a new pair so I might be watching the game using one lense which means using one eye, it’s not the best look..

Anyway back to today a great chane to grab all three points, from the Wigan game I can only see Gilks keeping a place from the players that came in. Clarke didn’t have the best game but was up against a huge right back. Demon could have started but picked up an unfortunate injury.

Here’s hoping for new glasses and three points today!

Edit: specsavers come up with the goods glasses ready at 12:30 awesome!!

Pool 4 – 1 Wigan

Bit of a lack of posts recently but tonight’s results deserves an update. From seeing the Wigan team and subs tonight a win looked always on the cards. After the four draws someone was going to ‘get it’ and it just happened to be an understrength Wigan side tonight.

Roberto-Martinez

It was great to see Demontagnac get a goal tonight, his confidence is growing all the time it was just a real shame to see him pull up with an injury. It was the first time for me seeing Neal Eardley who looked very comfortable at right back, he has great anticipation nipping in to intercept the ball and also good delivery from set pieces. I think that it could see in slotting in at right back for the rest of the season with Baps partnering Evatt at the back.

Burgess looked unfit and was his goal was a result of him not being able to run the ball to the net hence the shot from way out.

Overall a very enjoyable night at Bloomers, great to see a win under our belts with Coventry coming to the seaside at the weekend!

So after a great win over Everton the other night attentions turn to the opening day of the season when we start our third successive season in the Championship against QPR.

blackpol-v-qpr

The starting 11 seems to pick it’s self following the pre-season, as I see it the starting 11 will be.

1. Paul Rachubka
3. Stephen Crainey
5. Ian Evatt
24. Rob Edwards
15. Alex Baptiste
11. David Vaughan
4. Keith Southern
26. Charlie Adam
12. Gary Taylor-Fletcher
18. Jason Euell
9. Ben Burgess

So Chubs in goal is no surprise, back four picks it’s self although if Coid was fit Baptiste may have moved to center back with Evatt dropping out. Midfield Southern and Adam in the middle, Vaughan on the left and GTF on the right. Euell sits behind Burgess upfront. For the bench it’s seven this season:

7. Billy Clarke
10. Brett Ormerod
14. Joe Martin
17. Danny Mitchley
21. Matthew Gilks
23. Daniel Nardiello
22. Ashley Eastham

Which is the rest of our current squad bar Halstead. This is on the presumption we don’t sign anyone before Saturday. From the trialist’s we’ve had Ishmel Demontagnac and Will Haining should sign. Enrique de Lucas needs to show a little more and with us having 7 players that can play up front I’m doubtful he will sign.

Which ever side lines up at Loftus Road I’m sure they’ll be ready and I’m predicting a win on the opening day!

The pitch looks good as does the progress on the sound stand.

Charlie Adam Signs

Great news ahead of tonights friendly is Charlie Adam signing from Rangers for half a million. A great way to put an extra thousand on the gate and a boost ready for the start of the season on Saturday.

Signing a two year deal with the option to a third Charlie become the clubs record signing almost doubling the fee paid for Chris Malkin all those years ago. He’ll be wearing the number 26 again and should take some part in tonights game against Everton.

I’m not 100% sure where he’s going to be fitting into the side at the moment. It seems that he may take the place of Clarke on the left hand side where he often played for Rangers. We’ll have to see from tonights match, then we should know our strongest 11 for the start of the season.
