Barnsley 0 – 1 Blackpool FT
Posted on March 14, 2009
Get in! A great result today thanks to a battling performance and a debut goal from loan man Wade Small. The game was scrappy with too many free kicks with Barnsley’s aerial assault from corners and long throws it didn’t make for a pretty game. We battled and in the end just about deserved the win.
The goal from Wade Small was pure class. A deep cross from Joe Martin (improved in the second half) found Small at the far post. Small’s first time volley found the back of the net despite the keeper getting a hand to the ball.

What followed was one of the best celebrations ever. Small whipped off his top, jumped into the crowd, ran about hugging people and then picked up a child in an away top lifting up in the air. A great celebration to go with a great goal. The booking was a small price to pay.
After that it was a case of hanging on a little as the Tykes pilled on the pressure, with the huge Darren Moore being a big threat.
A great result, good times, let’s hit the beers!

Great result, hopefully this will spur the rest of the squad on to win a few more games.
