The Latvian international managed to make a big impression in his second season at the club. Forcing his way into the first team Kaspars went on to score 9 goals an impressive tally for a centre back. He scored twice in the 2-2 draw with Derby in the League Cup, a game Blackpool won on penalties. At international level Kaspars scored against Denmark in a Euro Qualifier, Latvian lost the match 3-1. He was named as runner-up in the annual Latvian Player of the Year Awards and has since been linked with a move away from Blackpool.
