Capital One Cup – Preston North End Away

We’ve had pretty much nothing to talk about this summer due to the lack of activity in the transfer market! But now we now have something to talk about – Capital One Cup Round 1 – Preston North End – Away.

Ten minuets before the draw I tweeted.

Ten minuets later, we get drawn away at Deepdale!

For some Pool fans with us having no players and no feel good factor around the club it’s a potential banana skin. However it could be the carrot we need to get ourselves up and running for the start of the season.

It’s over three years since we last played PNE, then both teams were in the Championship. That season we drew 1-1 at home (First minute goal from Billy Clarke, freekick from Wallace) and then drew 0-0 in the fixture at Deepdale.

According to the history books we’ve only met in the League Cup four time, losing three times, and drawing once (back when there was two legs).

It’s going to be an interesting match, there’s the added interest to the return of Simon Grayson who steadied the ship at Deepdale last season.

Really really looking forward to the start of the season now, hopefully we can add another one of these memories to the scrapbook!
