So Big Ben’s left for League One Notts County which looks like a great deal for him. Love him or hate him he did well for the Pool.

In total he made 83 (43) starts scoring 23 goals. 2 starts (3) in the FA cup with one goal, three starts in the league cup with three goals and two goals in 5 from the LDV.

Best moment? Winning the pen against Preston in the 1-0 win and maybe a few great goals including a cracker last year at Doncaster. Cheers Ben… wonder who’s be the new number 9?

A very poor result and performance yesterday against Barnsley, the tactics seemed to be the problem. DJ doesn’t like to play wide which means Burgess spent the majority of the first half on the left wing, he’s not a left winger.

Barnsley Football Club

It took 60 mintes until our first shot on target but even before that you knew that Barnsley would get on the score sheet after the way they started the second half. Mr Singh did his best to disrupt the play being conned time after time.

Barnsley Freekick

The only interesting points from the day was that some Pool fan had one planted on him from another Pool fan and an crazy old man tried to run people over at the railway crossing after the game. You know when those are the highlights it’s not been the greatest game of football.

Big Ben Burgess has reviewed some boots, there’s a few mentions of what other players wear and also a couple of jokes from the big fella.

Pool 4 – 1 Wigan

Bit of a lack of posts recently but tonight’s results deserves an update. From seeing the Wigan team and subs tonight a win looked always on the cards. After the four draws someone was going to ‘get it’ and it just happened to be an understrength Wigan side tonight.

Roberto-Martinez

It was great to see Demontagnac get a goal tonight, his confidence is growing all the time it was just a real shame to see him pull up with an injury. It was the first time for me seeing Neal Eardley who looked very comfortable at right back, he has great anticipation nipping in to intercept the ball and also good delivery from set pieces. I think that it could see in slotting in at right back for the rest of the season with Baps partnering Evatt at the back.

Burgess looked unfit and was his goal was a result of him not being able to run the ball to the net hence the shot from way out.

Overall a very enjoyable night at Bloomers, great to see a win under our belts with Coventry coming to the seaside at the weekend!

Burscough 0 – 4 Blackpool – A good run out

Ollie’s first game in charge ended in a 4-0 win today over Burscough thanks to two goal from Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Brett Ormerod and the last from Nardiello (looked like an o.g. to me). The 1st half team played really well with Baptiste solid at the back, Vaughan played in the middle with Southern, Clarke played wide left with GTF on the right.

Young Danny Mitchley played in the hole behind Ben Burgess but all were interchaning from left to right. The home side weren’t up to much until the second half when Richard Langley and co in the middle of the park didn’t hold any structure. It was interesting to see the front three that Ollie wants to use. I’m not sure at the moment we have the correct player to play in the ‘hole’ a certain Charlie Adams might fit in very well.

Over all it was a good day out in the sun, thanks to all that followed on the blackpool fc blog twitter account, for any matches I’m going to I’ll be providing updates and the odd picture.

So it’s the game after the Preston match and the sun is shining down over Lancashire.

The pitch isn’t looking great and I’ve just watch the groundsman flood the middle of the North half of the pitch. The centre spot is currently under a little puddle.

It looks like there will be one change to the starting line up. Ben Burgess isn’t warming up so Lee Hughes starts with Stephen McPhee coming onto the bench.

A point will do today!

Half time and we are one nil up thanks to a goal from Charlie Adams. It was at the far end of the ground, it was a low shot that came of the inside of the post and nestled in the far corner

It been a game of a lot of chances, PNE hit the bar from a freekick and Chubs had to palm a Elliot shot wide.

At the other end we’ve hand two off the line and Lonergan pulled off a double save from Burgess.

Only problem is the sunburn….. Come on only 45 to go.

So I’m in the ground it’s boiling on the second row. The lads have just warmed up infront of me and there are a couple of changes from last week

Burgess replaces Hughes and Donavan replaces Brett Ormerof who’s on the bench with new signing Walton.

Good turn out my pool all in tangerine!

Watford 3 – 4 Blackpool

Well, what a game that was and what a game to pick for an away day. I don’t get to many away games in London but I managed to arrange a meeting on Friday in London and then stayed the night. Watford is a bit of dump (yes I know Blackpool is too), the ground is strange too as you enter the away stand and your at the top of the stand, it’s build on a hill.

The game was great, both sides defended poorly which lead to the seven goals. I’m sure the back four were not happy with conceding three but it’s a good job we have a selection of players that can grab a goal a game.

Ben’s cracking lob / shot was the pick of the goals but when Gow slotted in the winner the roof came off the away stand. It was a great day to be a Pool fan!

The rest of the month looks good too, Ipswich at home, the big one agaist the nobbers, Wolves a great away trip, Sheffeild Wednesday away and we finish up on the south coast at Plymouth!

EDIT : Poor old Aidy Boothroyd was sacked today!

Ian Evatt’s first league goal for Pool saved the day today to grab a point at a horrible Bloomfield Road against Palace. It was a pretty poor first half, Southern and Taylor-Fletcher should have scored with easy chances. Ben Burgess scored again, he was pretty rubbish for the rest of the match but if he puts the ball in the back of the net every week keep him in the team. I was impressed by Gow too, it was the first time I’ve seen him start a game.

It’s Cardiff on Tuesday which should be pretty hard and then off to Watford on the Saturday, I got my ticket today!
