Well the first half didn’t go to plan but we got the result in the end. Overall it was an entertaining match and a good overall result. I thought that Big Emile Heskey was brilliant and unlucky not to get a goal, his through ball for Defoe’s goal was awesome.

He’s not everyone’s cup of tea and only 5 goals in an England shirt isn’t a great return but he brings something different to the team, like…..Big Ben Burgess!

We were a little lucky this afternoon to grab a point against Cardiff, we were awful for the most of the match and it wasn’t for Cardiff being poor upfront we should have been 2, 3 down by the time Alan Gow struck the equalizer in extra time.

The goal from Gow was a great strike from the edge of the box into the bottom corner, it was surprising to see Cardiff stand off Gow as he brought the ball down on the edge of the box.

It could have been a different match if Ben Burgess’s goal in the first half stood, from my angle there was no offside, in recent weeks there’s been some shocking referee decisions, pity as towards the end of last season and the start of this one the bastards in the black have been pretty good.

It was good to see Stephen McPhee back in on the pitch but Adam Hammill still flattered to deceive after he started ahead of the injured Jorgensen.  With the international break coming up it’s going to be a while til next match but at least we have England to look froward to! Were really good now!

Freddie Eastwood spoils the day again

That bloody Freddie Eastwood spoiled the day on Saturday after a great opener from big Ben the Romany forward scored a equaliser to share the points. He’s now scored against us for three different clubs. From my angle there was a big deflection from Rob Edwards to knock the ball in at the near post, so technically it wasn’t his goal.

To be honest it wasn’t the greatest match ever and Burgess as normal for a home game did pretty much nothing but scored and hit the bar.  It did look like the players had a hang over from the Birmingham match.

The worring point was that at times we were awful in defence but seemed to ride our luckk. Both full backs Barker and Camera were caught out of position and a few dodgy clearances from Evatt didn’t help things.

Anyway next week it’s Cardiff with a stupid 12:30 kick off which means an early start for me, I don’t think I’ll make the trip to QPR tomorrow night.

Half time at St Mary’s and Pool are one nil up thanks to a pen from Ben Burgess on the stroke of half time. Gary Taylor-Fletcher earned the spot kick being brought down just inside the box.

Saints have had two chances cleared off the line by Evatt and Edwards. It’s been an entertaining half and it looks like there’s more goals to come!

So we’re off the mark win a point against Norwich. I didn’t go to the match but reading reports and catching 10 mins of commentary it sounds like we were lucky to take home a point.

Wes didn’t score but he did provide the corner for the equalizer. Adam Hammill continues to impress and won the penaltly which Big Ben Burgess converted.

So after a dissapointing two games it looks good, still waiting for that new number 9 to arrive!

Big Ben Burgess may get some stick time to time (remember top scorer last season) but he’s a good journo. Reading some of his work last season in the Gazette he mentioned how after his career he would like to become a sports journalist. This season he’s got his own blog on the Sport of the World website.

Ben will be adding a new article on a weekly basis and he’s started with some stories about pre-season training including how the new training tops dyed everyone blue. To read  the blog just click here.

Steve Kabba and Jermaine Wright sign

Bish bosh bang another two signings, as expected Jermaine Wright on a free after leaving Southampton and one that no one predicted Steve Kabba from Watford on loan.

Apparently Kabba’s had a torrid time at Watford, only one goal in two years has made him surplus to requirements. Searching for a picture of Steve to stick on here I’ve found a blog laying into him, apparently he’s a an unlucky player, that translates to a donkey. If anyones going to get something out of a donkey it’s Simon Grayson, all I’m saying, Ben Burgess 10 goals last season!
