After a ok result against Preston tonights win over Middlesbrough was a great way to get back on track. We dominated the first half but didn’t grab a second goal we deserved. Boro were always going to come out and give it some welly in the second half unless we grabbed an early goal.
It nearly all went to pot when Charlie somehow managed to stay on the pitch after fouling Jeremie Aliadiere. I do think that was the reason for the pen later on, the ref thought he’d made a mistake by not show Charlie a red. He still managed to flash the red to Edwards who didn’t have the best luck with a pass he didn’t want and a shit pitch. He should have booted it but the lad must be feeling pressured to improve his distribution to keep a place in the team.
You knew after the save from Matt Gilks that the three points were ours and the tap in form DJ Campbell to get his first goal since coming back was the icing on the cake.
Only problem I’m missing the Reading game but really looking forward to the Barnsley match…. Oh and Preston were tonked 5-3 this evening doesn’t get any better.

half time and we are one nil up thanks to a goal from Brett Ormerod. we should be up by a few more with two chances falling to Brett, one hitting the bar.
to be honest Derby have been really poor bar Dickov upfront. the worrying news is Derby have to play better in the second half and they have Hulse and DJ Campbell on the bench.
It’s been a great Boxing Day so far, let’s hope it stays that way.

Great news ahead of tonights friendly is Charlie Adam signing from Rangers for half a million. A great way to put an extra thousand on the gate and a boost ready for the start of the season on Saturday.
Signing a two year deal with the option to a third Charlie become the clubs record signing almost doubling the fee paid for Chris Malkin all those years ago. He’ll be wearing the number 26 again and should take some part in tonights game against Everton.
I’m not 100% sure where he’s going to be fitting into the side at the moment. It seems that he may take the place of Clarke on the left hand side where he often played for Rangers. We’ll have to see from tonights match, then we should know our strongest 11 for the start of the season.

Ollie’s first game in charge ended in a 4-0 win today over Burscough thanks to two goal from Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Brett Ormerod and the last from Nardiello (looked like an o.g. to me). The 1st half team played really well with Baptiste solid at the back, Vaughan played in the middle with Southern, Clarke played wide left with GTF on the right.
Young Danny Mitchley played in the hole behind Ben Burgess but all were interchaning from left to right. The home side weren’t up to much until the second half when Richard Langley and co in the middle of the park didn’t hold any structure. It was interesting to see the front three that Ollie wants to use. I’m not sure at the moment we have the correct player to play in the ‘hole’ a certain Charlie Adams might fit in very well.

Over all it was a good day out in the sun, thanks to all that followed on the blackpool fc blog twitter account, for any matches I’m going to I’ll be providing updates and the odd picture.

Over the last few days it looked like Charlie Adams would signing for a record half a million from Rangers but it looks like he’s trying to cling onto his career at Rangers.

There’s no doubt that the signing of Charlie Adams would be one of the biggest signing in the last 20 years at Bloomers. Not only breaking our transfer record but bringing in someone who’s played at the top level. It could be the start of a turning point to establish the club as a Championship team and not a team that might yo-yo from league one to the Championship.
I just hope that Charlie realises that he can become a real legend at Blackpool.

The season ended today with great 1-0 over Swansea thanks to a goal from our top scorer DJ Campbell. I’m guessing the game wasn’t played at full pace but that win means we end the season in 16th place ten points clear of the relegation zone or 18 points off the playoffs depending on which way you look at it.

It’s a great improvement on last years 19th place finish and most importantly we are now slowly making progress to become a Championship side something that I never thought would happen when I started to support the Pool.
The summer is going to be interesting to see if Tony Parks gets the job, I hope he does based on the results in the last 10-15 games. Next years success won’t be decided in the transfer status of Charlie Adams and DJ Campbell but the signing of the duo would be a massive boost.
I’m hoping that Preston and Burnley go out in the play-offs so we have another round on Lancashire derbies, it would be good to see Leeds come up next season just so we can beat them and I’d love Newcastle with Sunderland to join WBA in the Championship for three massive games. Little Blackpool at St. James playing Newcastle United, I’d love it!
