Blackpool 1 – 3 Huddersfield – Found out

In front of the cameras tonight we were found out by a very clinical Huddersfield side. We never really got going in the match, not able to pass the ball with any fluidity and the away side struck with three great “away goals”.

Larry had certainly done his homework leaving two upfront at all times meaning Town could counter attack 2 on 2, the away side were helped by Baptist’s very shaky start and a great movement from Novak and Vaughan. In the middle Southern and Norwood broke up play well but in truth didn’t have too much to do with our players giving the ball away far too easily and too often.

Our goal came from one of few passing movements with a dinked ball into Ince enabling him to turn in the box and find GTF who converted with a neat finish.

And in truth that was as good as it got. Town scored two from set pieces and should have had a further goal from another corner.

Ollie decided to throw on more strikers taking off Gomes which resulted in hopeful balls to the front four as there was no midfield to create. It’s almost as if Ollie gave up on our passing style, how often do you see Barcelona pulling off midfielders, sticking on strikers and going route one. The fans would rather see us lose but still playing good football than loose just hoofing and not passing the ball.

A disappointing night overall but good banter in the pub here in London (The Constitution) with some fellow Tangerines. Attentions turn to Saturday and big spending Cardiff who could move ahead of us with a win. I expect changes and hopefully something to shout about.

Burscough 0 – 4 Blackpool – A good run out

Ollie’s first game in charge ended in a 4-0 win today over Burscough thanks to two goal from Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Brett Ormerod and the last from Nardiello (looked like an o.g. to me). The 1st half team played really well with Baptiste solid at the back, Vaughan played in the middle with Southern, Clarke played wide left with GTF on the right.

Young Danny Mitchley played in the hole behind Ben Burgess but all were interchaning from left to right. The home side weren’t up to much until the second half when Richard Langley and co in the middle of the park didn’t hold any structure. It was interesting to see the front three that Ollie wants to use. I’m not sure at the moment we have the correct player to play in the ‘hole’ a certain Charlie Adams might fit in very well.

Over all it was a good day out in the sun, thanks to all that followed on the blackpool fc blog twitter account, for any matches I’m going to I’ll be providing updates and the odd picture.

Blackpool 1 – 2 Reading HT

Half time and it’s been poor. Pretty much a hangover performance from the win on Saturday. We were two down within 20 mins, Noel Hunt and Karacan tapping in right wing crosses.

We got back into the game with Sourthern tapping in a Adam’s cross. That seemed to wake the rest of the team and the crowd.

It’s important not to concede in the first 15 of the second half, a point would be a good result.

Macclesfield 2 – 0 Blackpool FT

Not a good night at all, in the second half we had less chances and Keith Southern picked up a straight red for violent conduct. Southern appeared to headbutt Terry Dunfield who must of headbutted him back and he was sent off too. So it’s a three match ban for him, from the free kick the second goal came from Gritton.
