Shaun Barker leaves for Derby

]]> Shaun Barker has today left for Derby County in a deal around £900,000. It looked like it was on the cards from the start of the summer when Nigel Clough pointing out Barker for a move to the County Ground. £900,000 is a great fee considering in the middle of last season Barker had a little off patch. Some of that money I’m guessing will go to Rotherham as a sell-on clause.

He’s been a great servant to the club over the past three years and pretty much was part of the recent years of success at the club. Over 134 appearances for the club and a few goals. The highlight goals a winning header against Crewe when we were down to 10 men and this effort in the League One Play-Off Semi Final at Oldham.

]]> Get in, first win of the season beating the saints 1-0. Big Ben’s second of the season from the spot was enough to secure all three points in what was an awesome match.

Steve Kabba had three goals disallowed for offside, saints keeper Kelvin Davis pulled off two great saves to deny Fox and Burgess goals and in extra time Southampton hit the bar!

A great start to the weeked, we need a chant for Big Ben.

]]> The released and retained list was announced today with captain Micheal Jackson and left back John Hills being the main headliners to leave. As expected Kiegan Parker was released and will be looking for another club with 10 players including Micheal Flynn who had a good run in the team this year.

One surprise in the retained list was Simon Wiles who has spent time on loan at Macclesfield Town but never even threatened making the bench, he’s been offered a new contract along with Andy Morrell and Claus Jorgenson. The full list as follows:
