Job done - Championship Football Next Season

Posted on May 6, 2008

A point from the Watford game was enought to secure victory. We could have lost the game with Coventry losing and Leicester drawing against Stoke but we were unlucky not to take all three points. Big Ben Burgess grabbed a goal early on in the game, his 11th of the season. Darius Henderson was sent off in the second half but then Tommy Smith scored to make the game all level.

Overall it’s been a good season we were tipped to go down, in the end Leicester who are a massive club did, so considering the comparison of resources, fans base and players were over achieved. With Swansea and Forest coming up next season it’s going to be even tougher. Leeds may join then too investment is a must.

We also should work on extending a lead, numerous times this season we’ve managed to take leads in game Stoke, Sheffield United, Hull, Watford etc.

Preparation for next season starts tomorrow when the cull of current players is announced, 13 players have contracts up at the end of the season - Jorgensen, Jackson, Coid, Burgess, Morrell, Flynn, Hills, Paul Tierney, Simon Wiles, Phil Doughty, Andy Welsh, Marcus Bean, Keigan Parker. Out of that list I can only see Jorgensen, Coid, Burgess and Morrell getting contract.
