Ferguson, Barkhuizen and Dodd sign

It’s all looking good now! After drawing PNE in the cup yesterday it was announced today that Barry Ferguson, Tom Barkhuizen and Adam Dodd had all signed one-year-deals with a view to a second year.

Soccer - Pre Season Friendly - Blackpool v Hibernian - Bloomfield Road

News from the club had been that Ferguson was ready to sign, all he needed to do was sign on the dotted line. Interestingly he’s been offered the standard contract with an extra year which you think would have been something offered to Stephen Crainey and Gary Taylor-Fletcher.

Some other good news is that the rumour linking Stephen Crainey to Birmingham has been crushed by Brum manager Lee Clarke.

Tomorrow, time for some fixtures which always reminds me on this.

The grass is growing, Evo’s off and we’re off to York

Right, time to get this blog going again. The season’s long gone, we know who we will be facing next year, however we’ve no pitch and hardly enough players for a team.

I’m going to start updating the site regularly just with bits of news from here and there. Hopefully it will be every other day!

So the pitch is on its way to being redone, in the latest of very technical updates on the official site it explained how layers have been taken off, sand has been oxygenated etc etc. It seems like the club are trying to show how creating a football pitch is a pretty technical task, after many fans last year couldn’t understand the problems we were having.

Interestingly the cod heads down the road are also putting in a new pitch, due to “problems” last season.

On the players front it looks like Evo is going to be training with Blackburn at the start of the season to win a contract. Good luck to him, a bold move by Ince to let him go considering Gary MacKenzie and Kirk Broadfoot hasn’t signed. Also one the way out could be Eardley who’s off to Birmingham.

Good news about captain Barry Ferguson might sign another year after a stop start season.  We’ve also got a pre game again York on Saturday July 20th. York are managed by Nigel Worthington, (Aka Worthless – for younger readers he’s one of the worst managers we’ve had in recent years, Appleton / Hendry the other contender). It’s £12 on the gate for an adult which is a bit pricey for a pre-season knock-a-bout.

Names we’ve been linked with this week, Kevin Davies from Bolton free agent – No thanks,  Aussie defender Michael Thwaite (who once scored and did this). So not a lot going on with plugging the gaping holes in the squad.
