Since the addition of Poland to the EU on March 1 2004 many residents of the UK have had a certain dislike to the influx of eastern Europeans to the country, perhaps due to the fact they show us Brits up by the amount of effort they put into work. At Blackpool FC we seem to have benefited.

Bartosz SlusarskiOur president Valeri Belokon is from Latvia who also became part of the European Union in March 2004. Also Latvian Kaspar Gorkss signed, who has been a great signing for the club, pre 2004 the signing would have been impossible, remember Indrek Zelinski.

Today another signing, Bartosz Slusarski on loan form WBA, who were able to sign him from Groclin Grodzisk in the summer for £680K. The stirker has two Full caps to his name and European football. Sounds like a great acquisition to have till the start of the new year, at least we didn’t go for John Hartson!

Preston are the first of the two manager-less clubs in Lancashire to make a appointment, Everton assistant Alan Irvine manager has departed cod eyes to lead the Lillywhites. With Preston currently 4th from bottom he’s got his work cut out.

Alan Irvine appointented PNE manager

Cod Eyes : Don’t leave me Alan

Irvine : I have to go it’s my destiny

Good new on the injury front is that Ian Evatt is back playing again after a let injury, it was the ankle, calf and knee so pretty much the whole leg. He’ll be playing along side Ben Burgess and Adrian Forbes who are both recovering from injuries in the Senior Lancashire cup against Accrington tonight at Bloomers.

Parker in a spot of bother

Looks like Keigan got himself in to a bit of trouble, I remember this being mentioned on the message boards when the event apparently took place.

SEASIDERS star Keigan Parker is facing a fixture in court over an alleged fracas in a massage parlour.
The Scottish striker is alleged to have lost his temper at ‘Desires’ massage parlour in Cookson Street and hurled chips around before breaking a window.

Parker, 25, of Forest Gate, Blackpool, was an integral figure in Blackpool FC’s promotion last season and is accused of causing £275 worth of damage at Desires on February 11 this year.

Parker was not present at court. His lawyer Hugh Pond, said there was no evidence Parker had received the summons from the court and asked for an adjournment on his client’s behalf.

Prosecutor Suzanne Sanders did not object to the adjournment. She told magistrates :”If he does not attend next time a warrant could be issued for his arrest.”

Parker’s case was adjourned to Monday, December 3 by Blackpool Magistrates – the date of Blackpool’s televised fixture with Scunthorpe.

Grayson to Burnley

Burnley are looking to make an appointment this week to lead the merry bunch of Clampets. Steve Bruce has moved to Wigan today so Paul Jewel and Joe Royal are still seeking employment. Operational Director Brendan Flood told the club’s website: “The potential is there to get someone in place by the middle of the week, hopefully”. One name that has been thrown into the hat is Simon Grayson, who honestly would be down the pecking order of Royal, Jewel and Newell.

So if Simon did join the Clarets what would he be able to look forward too…

Entertainment at the fairground.

And so on and so on, being honest I can can’t say much for Blackpool which is maybe why Larry lives in Yorkshire!

Israel beat Russia

It’s on! Steve McLaren must of breathed a huge sight of relief last night as Israel beat Russian 2-1 in Tel Aviv to give England a big helping hand towards qualification to Euro 2008. All that is required now is to beat or draw against Croatia mid-week. The result last night meant that the Croats qualified for the championships so the game at Wembley holds not as much meaning for the away side.

Israel beat Russia

So it’s back on now and all eyes will be on the game mid-week, a draw or a win isn’t much to ask, is it?

Tonight England’s qualification to Euro 2008 rests in the hands of Israel who need to win or draw against Russia to give England a chance of qualification, thats if we manage to beat Croatia midweek at the home of football. It’s a really sad state that England have managed to find themselves in, after the defeat to Russia the feeling was that qualification was a impossible. But after the dust settled from the defeat in the former USSR its now not looking too much of an impossible task. So tonight good luck to the Israel national team !

Good news, Big Ben Burgess is back in action for the reserves tonight against Chester City, Burgess is back after an ankle injury which he picked up in the Colchester match. After a slight rest it was decided that the injury required surgery which has meant the Seasiders have been down to 2/3 strikers.

Burgess had started to show the promise which earned him the move from Hull to Blackpool, two league goals and one goal in the League Cup. The sooner the big man is back the better.

Also the speculation about the new Preston manger has started, first candidate our old friend Colin Hendry.

Kaspars Gorkss in the team of the week

For the first time this season (as far as I can remember) a Blackpool player has appeared in the Champion team of the week. Kaspars Gorkks scored the winning goal in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Scunthorpe Untied.

Kaspars Gorkss

Kaspars joined Blackpool last Christmas on loan and his move was made full time later on. This season the lanky eastern European has forced his way into the starting 11, thanks to injury but on his current form its hard to see how he’ll be dislodged from the team.

Well I mentioned that it looked like Simpson was on his way out of Deepdale and sure enough Derek ‘ talks like Ashley from Coro’ Shaw gave Simmo his marching orders today. Preston now like Burnley are looking for a new manager with the Derby match coming up in December the new manager is going to have his work cut out.
