No bid for Ince, Ludo to Turkey and Championship signing galore

The news about Tom Ince continues to rumble on however there’s been no bid accepted. So far all the speculation is paper talk.

Couple of Pool players have moved on.  Ludovic Sylvestre after rejected a new contract at Blackpool has signed for Çaykur Rizespor. For those not familiar with Çaykur Rizespor (me being one 5 minutes ago) they are a Turkish team who recently won promotion to the top flight in Turkey. Ludo’s gone and bagged himself a three-year deal – looks pretty happy about it. Not sure about the kit!

Another midfield that left us las year was Tiago Gomes, he’s set to join Cypriot club Apoel FC, those of Champions league giant killing fame.

There’s also been loads of activity in the transfer market today / yesterday with Championship clubs. Birmingham have lost Curtis Davis to Hull.  Birmingham had brought in Om Adeyemi from Norwich yesturday. Down the road Blackburn Rovers brought in defender Todd Kane on loan for a year from Chelsea, he had spent time on loan at Ewood Park last season.

A trio of international signings, Donny brought in Marc De Val Fernandez from ….. Real Madrid. Josef Varga signed for Boro from Debrecen (no idea) and Reading brought in USA international Danny Williams from Hoffenheim.

Huddersfield have been the busiest, with a triple signing including a couple of familier names. Former Pool loanee Adam Hammill, former target John Stead (former Huddersfield player) and what could be a great signing Martin Paterson from Burnley. Paterson had a great start to his career with Burnley but was then dogged by injuries. The three of them could be great signing for Town who are starting to look a very attacking side.

And for us……… don’t even ask. At least we can look forward to Ángel Martínez next blog post from Portugal LOL!

Ludo Disappointment and Goodwillie to return North?

A disappointing day yesterday with the news that Ludovic Sylvestre would be leaving. Since then the papers have put two and two together and made Palace favourites to sign him. In reality Palace would be his level, Fulham etc could be a step too far.

Ince also has commented that he was surprised and disappointed to lose the midfielder considering he had given the French man a run in the side last season and worked on improving his fitness.

Interestingly in his interview with the Gazette he added.

“At the end of the day all we can do is offer what we think is right. If a player can go and get bigger money elsewhere, then there’s not really much we can do about it.”

With contracts being offered to GTF, Crainey and Broadfoot, it seems like he’s preparing for them not to accept. You can’t blame the players either.

One team that won’t be requiring to find new players are Blackburn Rovers, who have a of squad around 42. One they might be looking to offload is David Goodwillie. The Scot was linked to us in the past, and Ollie took him on loan at Palace where he only made one appearance last season. At Rovers he’s only scored 2 in 28.

Today Dundee United, whom he played for before, were said to have put in an offer for the 24-year-old. That could be sparked by the fact that Dundee United have accepted a bid for Johnny Russell from Derby County, 20 goals in 38 games in the SPL last season. And so the merry-go-round starts, just doesn’t look like we’ll be jumping on any time soon.

One good story is that season ticket sales have surpassed last seasons figures. We have a total of 10,339 season ticket holders for the coming season. Without the £195.30 season ticket offer I’m sure that we would have been way short of last seasons number.

Ludovic Sylvestre – The last of the French we knew

Bad news and a huge step back for next season with the announcement that Ludovic Sylvestre has rejected a new contract and has left the club. According to the Gazette he was offered improved terms but with interest from top flight clubs it’s not a surprise to see him leaving.

He had a mixed career at the seaside with occasional runs in the team, his best being the end of this season, with 4 goals in 6 games. Those goals pretty much keep us up in the end. However at times he wasn’t able to perform on a regular basis and didn’t really contribute to us defensively.  It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him playing for Palace next season or Swansea who need to bolster their squad with European football on the horizon.

With Sylvestre out of the door, Grandin and Gomes gone, we’ve lost all of our creative attacking midfielders. Better start to acquire some of those targets. Out of the seven players out of contract and offered new deals – none have signed.

In other news, Sheffield United looks like they are going to put Michael Appleton in charge. That would be his third club in less than a year. This could be worse?

Pool Vs Nottingham Forest

Apparently we are down to the bare bones. Cathcart is out after an injury in the warm up at Burnley, apparently Evatt has a knock which means Kirk Broadfoot or Chris Basham could come in if Evo isn’t fit. It looks like the failure to bring in defenders in the summer is coming back to haunt us.

Barry Ferguson looks like he’s on his way out of the club on loan after not being able to hold down a first time place. Hopefully Ludovic Sylvestre will start who impressed in his appearance in the second half against Burnley.

But there’s no point in trying to guess the starting line up. Lets hope something does click tonight and we get back to winning ways. Our current run places us 20th in the form table. Things need to change quickly, losing to Forest is never fun.

4 in, Cathcart, Sylvestre, Grandin & Martin

few…….. 4 players in today as expected Craig Cathcart from Manchester United, Ludovic Sylvestre from Mlada Bolesla, Elliot Grandin from CSKA Sofia and Malaury Martin on a free from AS Monaco.

Malaury Martin

So four at the moment with it looks like another two tomorrow!
